We used D.L. Miner to build our full time residence in Ocean City New Jersey. From day one they set themselves apart from all of the other contractors we contacted. They were quick to respond and answer any questions we had. They provided us with many references which we reached out to, and everyone had nothing but rave reviews.

When we first started thinking about building a new home on our family-owned lot in Stone Harbor, the whole process seemed almost too intimidating to begin. We were lucky that the first person we met was Brian Stuart. We had seen some of the DL Miner homes around the island and asked to meet with him. He spent about two hours with us and walked us through the steps we would need to take to make it happen. Nearly two years later, we put our architect’s plans out for bidding. Three outstanding builders submitted their bids but our experience with Brian and his team made us confident that we wanted Miner to build our house.
The next nine months were very exciting for us as we watched our dream house being built. We were very fortunate to have Dylin Hobbs as our project manager. Dylin was on site every day to supervise the various teams and report back to me and my wife about the progress. We had a contractor friend and his artist wife who served as our “design team.” My wife and I relied on this couple for their advice when it came to making all of the decisions about the interior of the house. Dylin warmly welcomed their input which put us at ease. We wanted a number of Southwestern details in the tiling of the bathrooms, the backsplash and the entry foyer and Dylin helped us get shipments of tiles from California and Texas. He was available to me literally every day and would respond to my emails and texts at any hour of the day. There were times that I would think of something at 11 o’clock on a Saturday night and he would answer. His responsiveness was very reassuring and he went out of his way to make sure that my wife and I were satisfied with every detail. We looked forward to the pictures he posted every Friday which showed the progress from that week. We would send them around to our family members to let them share our excitement.
Even as the project wound down and we began to move into our new home, Dylin remained available to help us with any questions we had. I now think of him as a good friend to us.
We love every detail of our new home. The quality of the workmanship is outstanding. Everything works perfectly and any small scratch or cracked tile was repaired or replaced before we moved in. Our experience with DL Miner was everything we hoped for.

Thanks a million for the fabulous renovation you and your staff did on our Stone Harbor home. We’ve built many homes, but never a complete renovation like this. The Team you selected for us to work with turned what many describe as an overwhelming experience into a pleasant process that never became stressful. Perhaps the most enjoyable part of this experience was working with top-notch people who understood quality makes a difference and anything could be done.
Simply put…”it’s all in the detail”. I’ll never forget the day I met you in your office and we went over the scope of the work. You carefully listened and considered every possible factor that could affect the quality of our home. I walked away after that meeting telling Jim, why would we think of working with another builder. Brian loves what he does and has a passion for making things right. I was impressed he understood… “it’s the detail that makes the difference”.
The Team and subcontractors all delivered the services entrusted to them. This epitomized the quality and craftsmanship D. L. Miner offers. The time estimates were extremely accurate and throughout our construction the Team was ahead of schedule. They always kept us informed with weekly email updates and best of all…“Friday photos” from the job site. Despite the adverse world conditions, The Team continued to move forward to complete the job as close to our target date as discussed.
Our beach home is everything we expected and more. We enjoy how each and every room makes sense for our family to relax and be together. It has everything possible for modern coastal living. People who come to visit say it feels like home. I say…” its all in the detail”!

Early in the process your team made creative suggestions to fine tune various design and construction details. Some adjustments proposed by DL Miner made our home more interesting and unique, others resulted in substantial cost savings. The finished product is outstanding and we are truly grateful that DL Miner’s staff and subcontractors gave so much thought to all of the elements that have made our home what it is.
I have been involved with many construction projects, and am aware that every project has its challenges. Builders often do not take responsibility for issues that arise, and take advantage of opportunities to generate change orders. Your team had the “we will make it right” attitude throughout the process and took responsibility for construction challenges that many builders would try to pin on others. DL Miner made us feel like this project was the first of many that we would build together.
DL Miner finished our home on schedule and within the original budget and we could not be more pleased with your work. Our decision to buy property and build a home in Cape May was an exciting new adventure for us. However, we were tentative about navigating the approval process in Cape May as well as finding the right construction company for the project. We chose DL Miner for several reasons: they had in place highly organized and professional processes, they worked seamlessly with our architect, and they responded quickly and with an open mind to our requests and questions.
Jim Barnes, our Project Manager made all this happen. Jim and his team navigated the initial approval process with Cape May and kept the project on schedule. D.L. Miner’s final product is impeccable. Their workmanship is some of the finest we have seen. They were able to build our house in the time frame we requested; they continue to follow up should any matter arise, and we are delighted that we chose them to build our house. First impressions, in this case, are legitimately quite impressive.

We would highly recommend Don and his staff for any project in Avalon. He developed accurate budget numbers and followed through to meet them. There are several other very good builders for high-end projects in the area, but some of them would not even commit to developing a budget before we began and simply wanted to work on a time and material basis, which is likely to end up being much more expensive than someone who commits to a number and does what it takes to meet it.
